Notes for Wrapping
- Wrap
all your breakable items in
bubble wrap, wrapping paper,
tissue paper if delicate or
plain newsprint paper.
- Because
newspaper may leave ink
smudges on your items, it
should only be used to cushion
items that are already
protected.
- Use
linens, towels and blankets to
wrap or cushion fragile items.
-
Ziploc bags can be used for
small odds and ends and
screws/bolts, etc.
Get Packing
-
Organizing and packing are
time consuming. Plan ahead and
try to do a little each day.
- We
strongly recommend that you
use good quality, strong
moving cartons and always be
certain that the bottoms are
fully taped.
- Make
sure that every box is clearly
labeled by room and item.
- If
items are fragile, write
FRAGILE on the carton.
These hints will help you pack like
a pro:
- Do not use open top
containers, items can fall out
and break.
- All cartons should be
sealed with tape on the top
and bottom for transport.
- Any items that you don't
need for your daily living
routine should be packed
first.
- Important documents should
be packed separately and
placed somewhere so you can
personally carry them with you
on moving day.
- If you are planning a
long distance move you must
do the following:
- - Remove propane tanks
from grills
- - Empty gas/oil from
your lawn mowers and other
gas powered tools
- - Do not transport
flammables or poisonous
household products.
- - Check your owner's
manuals for any special
moving instructions of
appliances and other
electronic equipment
Special Handling
- You
will need to contact your
mover for special handling of
specialty items such as
washing machines, computers,
flat screen TV's, pool tables,
etc. They will have the tools
and recommendation to
transport them to their new
destination safely.
